Success and security are two very different things. And if the pandemic taught us one thing, it is this - that security is nothing but an illusion.
In today’s podcast episode, we talked about how security in successful employment, is not a sure thing. Yes, you may be earning an income for your family and you may be upholding a certain caliber of lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean that your security, especially in employment, is ensured. Executives, even the high-level ones, were laid off from their jobs when companies were forced to close down because of the pandemic.
So let me share with you certain points today so that you can break down what security really is and what it means to you.
How do you feel when you get up in the morning? Did you snooze the alarm again and just drag yourself around, unmotivated, no joy? Or are you so excited to leap out of bed that you don’t need an alarm anymore, so full of joy, excited to start your day?
Are you just working for the paycheck? Or are you working for something bigger than you that just lights you up inside?
Happiness, true joy, is found outside of your comfort zone. Are you comfortable where you are but nothing really excites you? What’s stopping you from pursuing something that you know will bring you so much joy?
Can you feel that there’s an itch on you somehow? A certain knowing that you’re meant for more? That this is not all, and that you deserve more?

Unconscious and personal biases are often deeply rooted within us all, but what are unconscious biases and what do they mean?
Unconscious biases are beliefs that one holds that create behaviours towards a person or group of people, based on specific attributes. These biases are developed as a result of our upbringing, culture, experiences, and observations; biases often guide the way one shows up and how they behave and interact with others. Although these biases are unconscious, they can be very detrimental if they are not properly acknowledged and addressed. People may be subconsciously guided by their biases to treat someone differently based on their gender, race, sexual orientation, career, status, etc. all of which continue to widen the equality gap.
In today's episode, you will learn how to identify your own biases and the biases of people around you - you'll learn how to understand your biases and how to avoid them in the future so you can forge stronger relationships and excel in your own path.
